Beginning Fencing

Our classes are based on the system of instruction developed by the celebrated Military Masters School in Rome (Scuola Magistrale di Scherma). Lessons embody everything that was characteristic of traditional Italian fencing: efficiency, speed, and mobility. Instructors at Accademia di Scherma Classica are well versed in the classical Italian fencing system and teach the weapons foil, saber, and épée. Classical fencing is a return to efficient, elegant, and safe swordplay.

For a complete description of the method of instruction used, see the textbook The Science of Fencing by Maestro William M. Gaugler (Laureate Press, 1-800-946-2727) or contact Maestro Scherman. All equipment is provided. Please wear sweats, comfortable gym shoes and bring a water bottle.
